Next Friday, the Yankees and Mets renew their crosstown rivalry when the Mets travel to Yankee Stadium. Hard to believe, but this is the 14th year the teams will face off in interleague play. An entire generation of fans and players from both teams has come and gone.

That got us thinking.

If we could make an ultimate lineup of stars from both teams during the Subway Series era, from 1997-present, who would be on it?

Would we have Posada or Piazza at catcher? Wright or A-Rod at third? Jeter or Reyes at leadoff?

And while we had our thinking caps on, who from the Subway Series era would comprise the ultimate pitching staff?

Would it be a staff of future Hall of Famers like Clemens, Randy Johnson and Pedro? Or would we just go with our sentimental favorites, like Dave Mlicki, David Wells and David Cone?
