Alex Rodriguez is 10 homers shy of 600, so let the debate begin, or continue. How will fans react to him joining that exclusive club?

Pick from this list and decide how you want to regard A-Rod's inclusion on the all-time list:

Barry Bonds (762), Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714), Willie Mays (660), Ken Griffey (630) and Sammy Sosa (609).

The fans perceive two home run lists in the big leagues. The non-performance enhanced one, which Aaron, Ruth, Mays and Griffey belong on.  Bonds, Sosa and A-Rod are, unofficially but certainly, on the other one.

Sosa will not, in this voter's opinion, ever make the Hall of Fame. Bonds will be a close call and A-Rod is too far off to contemplate.

Baseball has not officially acknowledged the era that produced king-sized, but dubious achievements in the HR category. Only an asterisk will do that. Don't hold your breath waiting for one. Only you can decide.
