Grand ceremonies usher in new stadium
It began where perhaps it should have climaxed with a wave on the giant video board from George M. Steinbrenner III himself, in attendance for the official opening of his team's new, $1.5 billion playground.
That was at 12:13 p.m. Thursday, when Yankee Stadium only was about one-third full. (Where did everybody go? By 10 a.m. there already had been long lines waiting to walk through the gates....
