As many assumed after last night's game, the Yankees called up catcher Chad Moeller from Triple-A today and, to make room for him on the 40-man roster, put Nick Johnson on the 60-day DL.

No doubt many Yankee fans wanted the move to be Jesus Montero but keep in mind the Yankees want Montero to play every day right now and that's simply not going to happen as Francisco Cervelli assumes the everyday duties while Jorge Posada is out. Additionally, Montero is off to a bad start (.230, .304 OBP, three homers) in Scranton and was benched a couple weeks back for not hustling.  The timing's just not right for him right now to be called up and, honestly, he hasn't earned it.
