Heading into Friday’s game against the Padres, the Yankees are 3.5 games out of the second Wild-Card spot. Texas and Baltimore are tied at a half-game behind the Indians and the Rays are four games up in the Wild-Card...Read more »

While Alfonso Soriano has veto power over any trade, he has given Chicago Cubs president Theo Epstein a list of teams he would accept a trade to, and the Yankees are one of them, according to multiple reports.
The trade deadline is still one week away, and other teams are reportedly interested in the 37-year-old outfielder. Soriano said he wouldn't turn down the Yankees but is waiting so the...Read more »
When the Yankees started the season without Curtis Granderson, Brett Gardner was called upon to start in centerfield. Last night he showed why.

The New York Post first reported the news.
Soriano would give the sagging Yankees offense a much-needed boost. The team was shut out on three hits last night by the Texas Rangers in their latest offensive dud.
Soriano is hitting .256 with a .756 on-base plus slugging percentage...Read more »
Sometimes even the simplest stats require thoughtful analysis.
Take on-base plus slugging percentage, which is exactly what its name says it is, and the Yankees’ subpar .649 OPS against lefthanded pitching during the first half. The American League average during that span was .712, leading many analysts to prescribe adding a righthanded-hitting outfielder to aid the ailing stats of the outfield...Read more »
In a late lineup move, Alex Rodriguez has been moved from third base to designated hitter in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's lineup because of tightness in his left quadriceps, the Yankees announced less than an hour before the scheduled first pitch for the RailRiders' game against Louisville on Saturday.
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 as the designated hitter for the RailRiders on Friday.
