Hughes is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the minor leagues by Baseball Digest before the 2007 season and it’s easy to see why. The righthander, drafted 23rd overall by the Yankees in 2004, is 21-7 with a 2.12 ERA in parts of three seasons in the minors. He struck out 269 batters in 237 1/3 innings.
