Get your name in lights at Yankee Stadium
For a few bucks, fans can get their name in lights on the Yankee Stadium message board and fan marquee. (Newsday.com / Mark La Monica)
"Gina, will you marry me? Love, Tommy," says the man behind the microphone.
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" scream 50,000 people.
Ah yes, it must be the later innings of a baseball game at Yankee Stadium. Marriage proposals on the Diamond Vision screens in right centerfield are as much a tradition as the roll call from the Bleacher Creatures.
After you're done condemning the love of two people, you may be wondering how much that guy paid for the announcement and how he did it. Well, here's how much he paid and here's how he did it.
He filled out this form and paid $100. Mail that form and check or money order to:
Yankees Fan Marquee
Yankee Stadium
Bronx, NY 10451
You can also order by credit card by caling 718-579-4464. For more info, e-mail scoreboard@yankees.com.
The Yankee Fan Marquee is limited to 10 messages per game, on a first-come, first-serve basis. And it's not all about marriage proposals on the Yankee Fan Marquee. Birthdays, anniversaries, congratulations and anything else you can think of will work, too.
Another option, and less expensive, is the centerfield scoreboard which displays the following general messages for only $10:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (mid-6th inning) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY (mid-5th inning) CONGRATULATIONS (mid-5th inning) WELCOME (mid-3rd inning)
Requests must be made in advance. The smart fan will do it well in advance, if possible. Include the following information: Date you'll be at the Stadium Specific type of message First and last name of the person for whom the message is for
Print out this form and mail along with your $10 check or money order to:
