Strange but true: Mayor gets silent treatment

It was one of the postseason’s strangest TV moments: New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg awkwardly standing by while Fox’s Kenny Albert interviewed Yankees after Sunday’s pennant- clincher.

With Election Day near, it was unclear whether Bloomberg was hoping to be asked a question, merely was looking for camera time or perhaps was engrossed in the interviews after the other dignitaries who had been introduced wandered off.

Albert didn’t know, but he did say no diss was intended.

“They were telling me in my ear who to ask for next,’’ he said. “I was just following orders from the truck.

“I noticed he was there, but I was turned a little to my right and he was to my left. I definitely knew it, but out of the corner of my eye. I didn’t realize until I watched it on my DVR that at some point everyone had left except him.’’
