Mark Teixeira left tonight's game in the second inning after getting drilled squarely on what looked to be his right elbow by Orioles starter Jeremy Guthrie. Teixeira bounded about in pain and Joe Girardi and trainer Steve Donohue quickly sprinted out of the dugout to tend to the first baseman. After not more than 20 seconds of discussion Girardi removed Teixeira.

No word as yet on his condition. Usually it's at least a couple innings before a press box announcement is made in these situations.

UPDATE: Teixeira was diagnosed with a right elbow contusion and X-rays were not taken. Teixeira was evaluated by Orioles team orthopedist Dr. Tim Johnson and will be reevaluated tomorrow by the Yankees.
