Damion James is set for another tour of duty with the Nets.

The team announced Sunday morning that they've signed the small forward to a 10-day contract. James, who was playing for the NDBL's Bakersfield (Calif.) Jam, was with the Nets in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He'll fill the roster void left when the Nets waived Josh Childress late last month.

The Nets originally acquired James in a 2010...

SAN ANTONIO -- The Nets are laying off that snooze button.

Since Avery Johnson's dismissal, albeit coming in games against the Bobcats and Cavaliers, there appears to be a new sense of purpose. They're 2-0 under interim coach P.J. Carlesimo, a mark they'll look to improve on Monday night when they meet the Spurs here deep in the heart of Texas.

"The Avery thing was a big wake up...

Deron Williams didn't need to have a sitdown with Avery Johnson Tuesday morning to discuss his Monday comments regarding the Nets' offensive system.

"There's nothing to it," Williams said following the team's shootaround at the Barclays Center as they prepared for their matchup with his old team, the Jazz. "[The media] asked me about Utah. I'm not going to bad mouth Utah. I...

Brook probable for Nets' tilt with Pistons

Injured Brook Lopez looks on during a game

He’s back.

But whether Brook Lopez makes his triumphant return against the Pistons at the Barclays Center Friday night or in Chicago versus the Bulls on Saturday remains to be seen. The Nets’ 7-foot center, who’s missed the past seven games with a sprained ligament in his right foot, is listed as probable for their matchup with Detroit and he appears to be on track to hit the court when things...

Three Pointers: Swept up in a Thunder Storm

Let’s be honest.

It looked like the Thunder were about to blow the Nets away in the third quarter, when they opened up that 15-point lead. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were having fun, bouncing all over the Barclays Center.

Durant tried to posterize Andray Blatche. Westbrook was acting like he was a cowboy in the Wild West, blowing off a pair of six-shooters and pretending to stick...

Three Pointers: No More Beantown Bullying

ORLANDO, Fla. -- They were wearing their black road uniforms, not ripped jeans and crusty old white T-shirts that Steve Lombardi sported during his latter days in the WWF.

But the Nets still played the role of the Brooklyn Brawler in Wednesday night’s 95-83 win over the Celtics at TD Garden, refusing to back down when Rajon Rondo went hard at Kris Humphries at the end of the first half. That...

Three Pointers: It's a two-team town now

The win was celebrated, yet downplayed.

For one night at least, the Nets could’ve said they owned the big bad city. They took down the Knicks, keeping their Manhattan neighbors from turning the Barclays Center into Madison Square Garden East.

But after securing a 96-89 win, there was no pounding of the chests. Not a single gotcha moment from anyone in the locker room. The Nets know what...

Lob City was grounded in the second half.

The Nets rebounded they way they had hoped Friday night at the Barclays Center, holding on for a win they badly wanted. They put the clamps on the Clippers defensively down the stretch of their 86-76 victory and made the necessary plays offensively, a combination that halted their two-game losing streak.

“It was really big for us,” said Brook...

SAN FRANCISCO -- Call it a mixed bag.

Tuesday night’s 95-90 defeat at the hands of Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at the Staples Center had the Nets split a bit.

On one hand, they were pleased with the way they clawed back into it after finding themselves in a 10-0 hole four minutes into the game, storming to a six-point lead late in the fourth quarter.

However, there’s still another...

Three Pointers: Boston Breakthrough

(Credit: Jim McIsaac)

Less than 90 minutes before they threw the ball in the air at the Barclays Center Thursday night, Avery Johnson was talking about needing a signature victory.

Johnson thought a win over the Celtics would do wonders for the Nets’ psyche, providing them with an early-season breakthrough moment. They had beaten Boston only once in the previous seven tries and just twice in 20 meetings entering...
