David Bowie to go on tour, wife Iman says
David Bowie fans just got a glimmer of hope that the Thin White Duke may be touring this year.
The British music site NME is reporting that Bowie's wife, supermodel Iman, let slip to Italian fashion magazine Grazia that her husband is planning to hit the road to promote his new album "The Next Day."
"We have a 12-year-old in school, so we are stuck. We can't travel," Iman told the magazine. "Our schedule is around her, so I don't know. We'll have to go visit him, but we won't be on tour with him because she's in school."
In January, the rock legend surprised fans on his 66th birthday with the announcement of his first new album in 10 years, which was released earlier this week. There was anticipation that Bowie would promote it with a tour -- something he also hadn't done in a decade -- but producer Tony Visconti dashed fans' hopes by saying Bowie had no plans to do so with the new album.
Even if the glam-rock superstar doesn't embark on a world tour, Iman's comments give us hope that he may at least perform close to home. Because the couple have houses in both New York City and Woodstock, Hudson Valley fans shouldn't have far to travel.
Our fingers are crossed for a return to Port Chester's Capitol Theatre -- which recently made its own comeback -- where Bowie performed in 1997:
