PROVIDENCE - Iman Shumpert revealed he took about three to four weeks off in the offseason because of soreness in his surgically repaired left knee.
Mike Woodson said "some nicks and bruises" kept Shumpert from doing some of the things the Knicks wanted him to do in the summer, and that he wasn't "in great shape" when camp started.

Tyson Chandler already has talked about how bad he felt during the offseason for being outplayed by Pacers center Roy Hibbert in the conference semifinals and he “vowed” he would never let his teammates down again.

The Knicks signed onetime Net Chris Douglas-Roberts today, and waived forward Justin Brownlee.
Douglas-Roberts, 26, holds career averages of 7.5 points in 161 games over four seasons with the Nets, Bucks and Mavericks.
The 6-foot-7 swingman, who played his college ball at Memphis, averaged 17.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League last year.

The Knicks signed veteran forward Ike Diogu to a non-guaranteed deal today.
The 6-foot-9 Diogu has career averages of 6.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in 225 games with the Warriors, Pacers, Blazers, Kings, Clippers and Spurs. He spent the last two seasons playing in Puerto Rico and China.

Both were part of the group of free agents who had a two-day workout with the Knicks last week. Neither will get any guaranteed money, but will sign make-good contracts.
