Mike Woodson was looking forward to today’s practice because he was hoping to have nearly a full complement of players out there.

But Carmelo Anthony didn’t practice because of a hyperextended left knee, Tyson Chandler rested with a sprained right ankle, Rasheed Wallace couldn’t go with an acute stress reaction in his left foot and the Knicks gave Jason Kidd off for a recovery day.

Woodson...

Big names could return to practice Sunday, or not

The Knicks’ practice Sunday could feature Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire together for the first time since mid-October. Or neither of them could practice.

It’s still unknown whether Anthony (hyperextended knee) and Stoudemire (knee surgery) will be able to go full. That was the Knicks’ hope, but Stoudemire has to be re-evaluated by team doctors before he can practice.

He was asked...

Greetings from Buffalo, Knicks fans! I am here to eat chicken wings and return to my football comfort zone. Henceforth you will be back in the very capable hands of beat writer Al Iannazzone.

As I wrote in a column for the Sunday paper, being around the Knicks for a manic, eventful three-game West Coast swing illustrated what now should be obvious: These guys not only enter 2013 as the biggest...

Carmelo Anthony won't play Friday

Just got back to the hotel from Sleep Train Arena, which was called something else last season and before last season was long known as Arco Arena

Actually, every highway sign leading to the place still says "Arco Arena."

Whatever. It's amazingly antiquated even though it's only 24 years old. But it's also extremely intimate at just over 17,000 seats, the smallest capacity...

Neil Best here again, this time checking in from Sacramento, the final stop on the Knicks' three-game West Coast swing.

Actually, I don't think they're quite here yet. They opted to stay overnight in Phoenix and were to head in this direction this afternoon.

Why anyone would not want to spend an extra day in Sac is beyond me. Just kidding. This actually is the first time I've ever been...

J.R. Smith, Jason Kidd lead Knicks to last-second win

J.R. Smith had never had a game-winning, buzzer-beating shot before this season. Now he has two in three weeks.

Smith capped off a terrific all-around game with a difficult catch-turn-and-shoot deep baseline jumper as time expired to lift the Knicks to a 99-97 win at Phoenix. Smith was also fading to his left when he launched the decisive bucket that helped the undermanned Knicks improve to...

Raymond Felton’s hand injury is much more serious than originally thought and could sideline him for at least a month.

X-rays revealed a fracture in Felton’s right fifth finger. The Knicks said the next course of action will be determined after his return to New York. But Felton told reporters in Phoenix he might need surgery and that could keep him out 4-to-6 weeks.

"This is not...

The Knicks will be without their top two scorers tonight when they play the Suns.

Carmelo Anthony won’t play due to a hyper-extended left knee and Raymond Felton is out with sprained ligaments in his right fifth finger, or pinkie. Both injuries occurred in yesterday’s 100-94 loss to at the Lakers.

Anthony hurt his knee when Marcus Camby fell into him late in the first half. But Anthony...

Raymond Felton is 'questionable'

The Knicks are calling guard Raymond Felton "questionable" for tonight's tilt against the Suns because of the right pinkie sprain he suffered against the Lakers Tuesday.

Officially, the Knicks called it his "fifth finger," which does sound a little more dignified than "pinkie," I suppose....

Whither Raymond Felton?

Hello again, Knicks fans! This is Neil Best reporting from downtown Phoenix, still on duty covering your very interesting 2012-13 squad.

First, a note from my usual beat, which is sports media: Tuesday's game against the Lakers did predictably boffo ratings numbers, with an average of 5.9 percent of homes in major markets having watched. That's ABC's best for that Christmas afternoon window...
