Knicks point guard Mike Bibby comes from a family filled with professional athletes. Find out about them and him with these 10 facts.
Bibby's father, Henry, also played in the NBA, including from 1972-75 with the Knicks. After retiring, he was a head coach in the CBA, NCAA and WNBA, and an assistant coach in the NBA. Bibby's uncle, Jim, pitched in the MLB.
Bibby went to Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Ariz. In a video posted on his website, Bibby said that he intends to live there his entire life.
Named to the McDonald's All-American team in 1996. Other notable players named to the team that year were Kobe Bryant, Richard Hamilton, Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O'Neal.
Bibby won a national title as a freshman at Arizona in 1996-97, then entered the NBA draft after the 1998 season. The Grizzlies picked him No. 2 overall.
Bibby is one of three active players named to the All-NBA Rookie first team after the 1998-99 season. Paul Pierce and Vince Carter are the others.
Following a 2001-02 trip to the Western Conference Finals with the Sacramento Kings, Bibby inked a seven-year, $80.5 million contract.
Bibby and his girlfriend, Darcy, have four children.
Eddie House is Bibby's brother-in-law. The two played together for the Sacramento Kings in 2004-05, and for the Miami Heat in 2010-11.
During the 2010-11 season, Bibby agreed to a buyout with the Washington Wizards. As part of the deal, he waived his following year's salary, worth $6.2 million. He signed with the Heat shortly after the buyout.
