Carmelo Anthony had his best NBA season, but Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald said he could be better.

“I don’t think you can say that Carmelo can’t improve,” Grunwald said Tuesday. “I think he can improve, and I think he works very hard and I think he will improve.”

Anthony led the league in scoring, averaging 28.7 points per game, and committed to defense more than he ever had. The knocks on Anthony are he shoots too much and doesn’t involve his teammates enough. But Grunwald wouldn’t say specifically in what areas Anthony could improve.

“Melo had a tremendous year, MVP-caliber sort of year,” Grunwald said. “If you don’t think a player can improve – everyone can improve: from the front office to the coaching to the player, every single player. We had some good conversations with Melo. He’s going to be dedicated this offseason to working on his game.”

First thing for Anthony is he will have an MRI on his troublesome left shoulder at some point.
