Carmelo Anthony is shooting for Denver tomorrow night.

Anthony worked out pregame here in Chicago, but that was just to get his conditioning in and some shots up.

He knew he wasn’t going to play with the lacerated left-middle finger that also kept him out of the Miami game Thursday.

“I didn’t really have no plans coming back on this trip because it was so soon,” Anthony said. “As many hours as I can get, I’d rather take it.”

Anthony is being prudent. He said playing tomorrow has nothing to do with the opponent, his former team, tomorrow night at the Garden.

The Heat game Thursday was bigger. Anthony worked out that night too to test it.

“I went out there, I tried it,” he said. “I was still trying to force myself to do it, but you’ve got to be smart. W haven’t even played 20 games yet in the season. I didn’t want to have another setback."
