The Knicks will be without Marcus Camby for at least their first two preseason games.

An MRI on Camby’s left calf revealed it was strained. He’ll miss 7-10 days.

Amar’e Stoudemire also joined the Knicks’ injury report Saturday as he didn’t practice due to a sore left ankle.

Camby has always been among the league leaders in rebounding and blocked shots – especially for 48 minutes. But the Knicks need him on the floor, particularly late in the season.

The 2006-07 Defensive Player of the Year, Camby has never played more than 79 games, and surpassed 70 games three times in 16 seasons. He’s missed 58 games over the past four seasons.

The Knicks signed Camby in the offseason to backup Tyson Chandler, last year’s Defensive Player of the Year. They also picked up Kurt Thomas and recently signed Rasheed Wallace so they have depth up front.

They probably will need that insurance considering the ages of their backup frontcourt players.

Thomas is 40, while Camby and Wallace are 38. Wallace also is trying to return to the NBA after retiring in 2010.
