If the NBA lockout cancels a large portion of the coming season, if not all of it, Knicks stars Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony are reportedly involved in a barnstorming tour of NBA stars that will cover two weeks and four continents.

Amar'e and Carmelo would be part of a superstar group that, according to ESPN.com, would also include Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Chris Bosh, Rajon Rondo, Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Carlos Boozer, Paul Pierce and Kevin Love. And others such as Kevin Durant and Kevin Garnett are reportedly considering the idea of joining the show.

Stoudemire suggested recently that if the NBA season was lost, that players should get together to form their own league. While that idea usually surfaces whenever there is a labor dispute in professional sports, it is virtually impossible to put something together in a short amount of time that would be worth anything to both fans and players.

And while the players' battle with the owners during this lockout has allegedly been about the preservation of the middle class, the stars know that, even while losing an NBA paycheck, they can always generate income off their names in other ways. This six-game tour, which would begin Oct. 30, was organized, of course, by their agents along with Atlanta businessman Calvin Darden. It would take them to Puerto Rico, London, Macau and Austrailia and in big-city venues that seat a large capacity to capitalize the most on ticket sales.

But if the glacial progress gained in mediation talks over the last two days start to gain momentum and the NBA and NBPA start moving toward a potential deal, the tour would likely be scrapped so that the players can prepare for the opening of training camps.
