The Smiths haven’t received good news over the last couple of days.
First, J.R. Smith learned that despite his preference to start that Mike Woodson wants him to continue coming off the bench. In describing his feelings, Smith said “disappointed would be an understatement.”

Carmelo Anthony talked a lot Monday about the Olympics, and how being around all those great players put things in perspective for him. He elaborated on that, saying he just has to trust his teammates more.
It should be easier this year for Anthony considering all the veterans he has around him, and veterans who are relatively healthy.

The Knicks will be without Marcus Camby for at least their first two preseason games.
An MRI on Camby’s left calf revealed it was strained. He’ll miss 7-10 days.
Amar’e Stoudemire also joined the Knicks’ injury report Saturday as he didn’t practice due to a sore left ankle.

Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler will return to the site where they won their gold medals over the summer.
The NBA officially announced that the Knicks will be playing a regular-season game at the O2 Arena in London. They will face the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 17, 2013. It's a "home" game for Detroit, to the Knicks still have 41 games at The Garden.

After Rasheed Wallace officially joined the Knicks today, he talked about his relationship with Mike Woodson and how it helped him want to return to the NBA.

Many Knicks’ fans are not happy that Jeremy Lin isn’t back, but their point guard position is improved from last season.
Coach Mike Woodson, as expected, essentially said Raymond Felton would be his starting point guard. Jason Kidd will back him up – and likely finish games – and could play some with Felton.

Carmelo Anthony talked about sacrificing his scoring for the betterment of the team at Media Day.
“At the end of the day it’s about winning basketball games,” he said. “I’m done trying to score 30, 35, 40 points for us to win a basketball game. I don’t want that role anymore.”
