A rough couple of days for J.R. Smith and his younger brother Chris

The Smiths haven’t received good news over the last couple of days.

First, J.R. Smith learned that despite his preference to start that Mike Woodson wants him to continue coming off the bench. In describing his feelings, Smith said “disappointed would be an understatement.”

Marcus Camby out 7-10 days with calf injury

The Knicks will be without Marcus Camby for at least their first two preseason games.

An MRI on Camby’s left calf revealed it was strained. He’ll miss 7-10 days.

Amar’e Stoudemire also joined the Knicks’ injury report Saturday as he didn’t practice due to a sore left ankle.

Camby has always been among the league leaders in rebounding and blocked shots – especially for 48 minutes....

Knicks sign Jason Kidd, re-sign Steve Novak

The Knicks officially added Jason Kidd and Steve Novak today.

The Knicks made their first of what will be many moves on the first day teams can announce the signing and acquisition of players.

Athletic swingman James White signed a one-year deal for the league minimum. Jason Kidd, Steve Novak, J.R. Smith and Marcus Camby are forthcoming.

It was a busy day yesterday for the Knicks as they came to terms with three players – Steve Novak, Marcus Camby and J.R. Smith.

These deals can't be official until tomorrow, when the NBA moratorium for signing or trading players is over.

The Smith agreement was reached well after midnight on the East Coast. He will sign a two-year deal, starting at $2.8 million for the upcoming season....
