ORLANDO – The Knicks have come up small when they’ve gone big this year, but that isn’t stopping Mike Woodson from starting the frontcourt of Carmelo Anthony, Andrea Bargnani and Tyson Chandler.

They are 0-4 this season with that starting frontline. Yet Woodson said this morning that he would start that lineup Monday against the Magic.

The Knicks used it Saturday against the Grizzlies,...

Kenyon Martin is a game-time decision Tuesday night against Cleveland due to a sore left ankle.

If he doesn’t play, Mike Woodson said he likely would start Metta World Peace when the Knicks try to rebound from an embarrassing 41-point home loss to the Celtics Sunday.

It sounded as if Martin would sit out for the second straight game. He said he would get treatment and see how it feels...

Mike Woodson is planning to change his starting lineup tomorrow night against the Pistons.

The Pistons start a Josh Smith, Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond frontline so Woodson said he “might match to their bigness.”

It’s a safe bet that Carmelo Anthony, Andrea Bargnani and Kenyon Martin will start up front with Raymond Felton and either J.R. Smith or Iman Shumpert.

Woodson said...

Metta World Peace finds Zen

Metta World Peace has been a voice of reason – somewhat – during the Knicks’ struggles. He said playing for Zen Master Phil Jackson with the Lakers taught him not to overreact.

“I played for Phil, so I’m used to calm,” World Peace said. “Concerns are not my strong point. Solutions are my strong point. Staying in the moment is a strong point. I’m always trying to find solutions.”...

Steve Mills was asked during the preseason what he thought the Knicks needed.

"Backup center," Mills, the Knicks' president and GM said. "That's something we clearly need to worry about."

This was this long before Tyson Chandler broke a bone in his right leg, which will sideline him four-to-six weeks. The Knicks should have addressed this glaring weakness during the...

On the eve of the regular-season opener, Mike Woodson sounds as if he’s ready to change the starting lineup he used most of preseason.

Andrea Bargnani appears out of the starting five and Carmelo Anthony, who had played his more natural small forward during the preseason, is expected to slide back to power forward when the Knicks open up tomorrow against the Bucks.

“I didn’t expect it,”...

Metta World Peace says there are many Mister Softees in the NBA today

Metta World Peace likes getting his ice cream from the Mister Softee truck, but he doesn’t like playing against guys who are soft - and he said there are a lot of them in today’s NBA.

As only he could do, World Peace made that Mister Softee analogy after he went face-to-face with intense Raptors forward Tyler Hansbrough on Monday night. Of course, he didn’t back down. World Peace said he likes...

Iman Shumpert and Pablo Prigioni were spectators during practice today, nursing sprained elbows they suffered in last night's preseason game in Baltimore. But Mike Woodson said they’re expected to be all right.

Woodson said Shumpert (sprained right elbow), Prigioni (sprained left elbow) and Metta World Peace (sprained right ankle) should be able to play Monday when the Knicks are in Toronto...

The Knicks still have four preseason games remaining and they clearly have some decisions to make regarding their last roster couple of roster spots.

Twelve players have fully guaranteed deals. C.J. Leslie and Jeremy Tyler have partial guarantees.

But Tyler is rehabbing from foot surgery and Leslie hasn’t stood out through these three preseason games. He’s averaging 2.3 points and 1.7...
