Newsday's Al Iannazzone takes you inside the Knicks.
Carmelo Anthony wasn’t at this morning’s shootaround to talk about the one-game suspension the NBA handed down yesterday for his actions following Monday’s loss to the Celtics.
Anthony will serve the one-game ban tonight when the Knicks face the Pacers. Mike Woodson said it was his decision for Anthony to miss shootaround.
“He really don’t need to be here,” Woodson said. “He’s not playing...Read more »
This wasn’t a good day for the Knicks.
First Mike Woodson said the doctors told him he has to cut back on Amar’e Stoudemire’s minutes because he felt soreness after playing about 28 minutes in Monday’s loss to the Celtics.
Then the NBA hits Carmelo Anthony with a one-game ban after he “attempted to engage with Kevin Garnett multiple times after Monday's game and therefore a suspension...Read more »
The Knicks’ theme Wednesday was right out of a Manhattan street-corner scene of curious onlookers: Move along; nothing to see here. Carmelo Anthony, acknowledging that he was “pretty sure” he would be hearing from league security people about his verbal confrontation with Boston’s Kevin Garnett after Monday night’s game, declined to address the subject beyond that. ...Read more »
The Knicks continue to say they’re not counting the Celtics out despite their unimpressive 16-17 record heading into tonight.
It’s not just that the Knicks aren’t trying to wake up the potentially sleeping giant by saying Boston’s time has passed.
They know Doc Rivers’ Celtics have many players who are battled tested and know how to win – something the Knicks have acquired the past two...Read more »
Ama’re Stoudemire laughed and said, “Really?” when he was told Mike D’Antoni said Stoudemire threw all of his former coaches under the bus when he said this was the first time in his career he’s being taught defense.
“It was taken out of context,” Stoudemire said. “It wasn’t really to be exaggerated as much as it was - just from the simple fact Coach Woodson is a defensive coach. He’s...Read more »
The Knicks went to Amar’e Stoudemire against San Antonio more than they did in his debut, and could look for him more Saturday in Orlando.
Stoudemire needs to knock off the rust, though.
In his debut against Portland, he was 3-for-8 with six points in 17 minutes and missed a couple of shots in the paint.
Stoudemire shot 4-for-10 against the Spurs with 10 points in 21 minutes. He...Read more »
The Knicks could have a new addition to the starting lineup tonight, but it won’t be Amar’e Stoudemire.
It sounds as if Marcus Camby could replace Kurt Thomas against the Spurs. The Knicks have gotten off to bad starts lately, so Mike Woodson said something was going to have to change.
“Not taking nothing away from Kurt because Kurt bangs and does what’s asked of him too,” Woodson said....Read more »
The Knicks are not shooting around this morning. They will have a walk through before tonight’s game against Portland, so whether Carmelo Anthony and/or Amar’e Stoudemire plays won’t be known officially until around 90 minutes before tipoff, give or take.
According to a Yahoo! Sports report, Stoudemire will make his long-awaited season debut following October knee surgery. Stoudemire didn’t...Read more »
The Knicks had 10 players for practice today and it may be what they have for tomorrow’s game – but not necessarily the same 10.
Carmelo Anthony (hyperextended knee) went through part of practice and Amar’e Stoudemire all of it. But both are questionable to face the Blazers.
Anthony said he’s not getting the usual lift on his jump shot and doesn’t have the power he needs in his leg.
If...Read more »
Mike Woodson was looking forward to today’s practice because he was hoping to have nearly a full complement of players out there.
But Carmelo Anthony didn’t practice because of a hyperextended left knee, Tyson Chandler rested with a sprained right ankle, Rasheed Wallace couldn’t go with an acute stress reaction in his left foot and the Knicks gave Jason Kidd off for a recovery day.
Woodson...Read more »
