AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Mike Woodson said the MRI on Carmelo Anthony’s injured right knee showed he has “some fluid build-up” and that’s what’s causing the stiffness.

Anthony wasn’t at the Knicks’ morning shootaround and is out for Thursday's game against the Pistons.

“Rest will probably be the best thing for him,” Woodson said. “He’s got to make that commitment. If he wants to sit down...

Mike Woodson said Carmelo Anthony asked out of last night’s game before he fell and aggravated his right knee. Woodson said he was too “stubborn” to listen.

“I should have,” Woodson said on ESPN NY 98.7 FM this afternoon. “But stubborn coach, I just didn’t. We’re down 22, I’m going to leave one of my best players in the game. Maybe I should have taken him out before he actually stumbled and...

Carmelo Anthony: Knicks need to play harder

The Knicks aren’t playing hard enough.

We’re paraphrasing, but that’s basically what Carmelo Anthony said before the Knicks faced the Raptors, and you can’t argue with him.

The Knicks have slid since starting the season 18-5. They’re not showing the same passion or urgency and they have been exposed defensively.

So Anthony was asked what has to change after the Knicks gave up 125...

Many Knicks are familiar with Kenyon Martin.

Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Marcus Camby and Jason Kidd all played with him before. Martin’s most success came playing with Kidd and the Nets, where they reached two Finals together. But that was more than a decade ago.

Martin is 35 and hasn’t played since May. So at least he will have something no other Knick has – fresh legs. Mike Woodson...

INDIANAPOLIS - Iman Shumpert made some appearances over All-Star Weekend in Houston, and also watched some tape the Knicks gave him to kind of kick-start him after the break.

Shumpert, the subject of trade rumors, hasn’t been himself since returning from a torn left ACL 13 games ago. A big part of that is coming back from the injury itself. But Mike Woodson wanted to remind Shumpert of the...
