Newsday's Al Iannazzone takes you inside the Knicks.
And so it begins.
Amar’e Stoudemire’s injury has opened up the possibility to Mike Woodson playing different lineups depending on the match-ups.
This is not the ideal situation because you want to have the same starting five as much as possible.
But take tonight for example.
The Knicks could start Raymond Felton, Ronnie Brewer, Tyson Chandler, Kurt Thomas and Carmelo Anthony...Read more »
The Knicks will use their third different starting lineup in three preseason games, but the biggest thing for them is Amar’e Stoudemire is playing tonight.
Stoudemire missed the first two games with a bruised left knee. Coach Mike Woodson said he would play against the Raptors and then might be given off tomorrow in Albany when the Knicks face Boston.
“If I’m going to play him some big...Read more »
This didn’t feel like a preseason game from the very beginning. The Knicks and the Celtics played an intense game that featured both benches standing down the stretch, screaming things at each other and urging on their teammates.
Kevin Garnett really was the catalyst for that. Garnett was up screaming, 'Here we come,” after back-to-back Celtics’ baskets late in the Knicks’ 98-95 overtime win....Read more »
The Knicks got off to a good start in their preseason debut – literally.
They scored 38 first-quarter points and after squandering, a 17-point lead beat the Wizards 108-101 last night.
Both teams are banged up and with all due respect to the Wizards they could be one of the worst teams in the league, but what you look for in the preseason is how guys play together, what units work, whether...Read more »
The Smiths haven’t received good news over the last couple of days.
First, J.R. Smith learned that despite his preference to start that Mike Woodson wants him to continue coming off the bench. In describing his feelings, Smith said “disappointed would be an understatement.”
Then Smith’s younger brother Chris, who was hoping to get one of the final rosters on the Knicks, learned he needed...Read more »
Carmelo Anthony talked a lot Monday about the Olympics, and how being around all those great players put things in perspective for him. He elaborated on that, saying he just has to trust his teammates more.
It should be easier this year for Anthony considering all the veterans he has around him, and veterans who are relatively healthy.
Last year, the Knicks had Mike Bibby and Baron Davis,...Read more »
Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler will return to the site where they won their gold medals over the summer.

Many Knicks’ fans are not happy that Jeremy Lin isn’t back, but their point guard position is improved from last season.
Coach Mike Woodson, as expected, essentially said Raymond Felton would be his starting point guard. Jason Kidd will back him up – and likely finish games – and could play some with Felton.
“Raymond will be probably the starting point guard right now,” Woodson said....Read more »
The Knicks held their annual Media Day this morning and there was some things that had to be discussed beside the usual ‘what are the expectations for this team?’
Of course, the Knicks believe they’ve assembled a team that can compete for a championship. Mike Woodson said it. (Mike D’Antoni said it last season and that didn’t work out so well).
But the decision to not match the Rockets’...Read more »
The Knicks are just about done putting their roster together for next season.
There could be some things that come up between now and training camp – a trade call can come at any time. But other than that, all the Knicks have are minimum contracts to offer free agents.
The Knicks have 15 players under contract, 13 of them guaranteed. Chris Smith’s deal isn’t fully guaranteed – although...Read more »
