Five ways the Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Indiana Pacers went wrong for the Knicks:

1) Chandler bombs

Tyson Chandler didn’t play like a former Defensive Player of the Year or All-Defensive First-Team center against Indiana’s Roy Hibbert. Chandler totaled 36 rebounds and 29 fouls in the six games, while Hibbert averaged 13.3 points and 10.3 boards.

2) Anthony...

INDIANAPOLIS – The Knicks went through shootaround this morning without J.R. Smith, who Mike Woodson said had a 102-degree temperature.

The Knicks are listing Smith as questionable tonight against the Pacers. But Carmelo Anthony removed any question about Smith’s status for the pivotal Game 3 of this Eastern Conference semifinal series that’s tied at 1-1.

Mike Woodson didn’t minimize the importance of Tuesday night’s Game 2 for the Knicks.

“This is a major game for us tonight,” Woodson said. “We don’t want to go to Indiana down two games. So this is a major, major game for our ball club.

Yet, Woodson said he’s telling his team to not feel any pressure down 0-1 against Indiana in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Woodson isn’t getting...

Bernard King, who earned induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame last Monday, is an Anthony fan. He was in Atlanta the night Anthony had a chance to duplicate King's 1984 feat of back-to-back 50-point games for the Knicks. Anthony finished with 40.

"He’s playing the best basketball of any player in the league," King said. "He has such versatility. He can...

Carmelo Anthony could lead the league in scoring and finish in the top three in MVP voting and still not make the All-NBA first team.

Voters have to pick two guards, one center and two forwards for the All-NBA teams. LeBron James and Kevin Durant likely will be named first-team forwards. If the league had gone the same route as it did for the All-Star Game -- eliminating the center position...

Tyson Chandler's neck remains an issue, concern

The Knicks probably won’t have Tyson Chandler tonight when they try to clinch their first Atlantic Division title since 1994.

Chandler is listed as doubtful with a bulging disc in his neck. But Mike Woodson said Chandler is “sore” and “needed rest today.”

“He’s a little beat up,” Woodson said.

Chandler’s injury seems like something that could linger and is definitely a cause for...

Tyson Chandler was back to his old self today, talking and laughing with the media.

It’s probably a sign that he’s feeling better. It’s unlikely he will play tomorrow against the Clippers – Carmelo Anthony either - but Chandler is feeling better.
