Jason Kidd hasn’t publicly committed to returning next season, but Knicks GM Glen Grunwald said Tuesday: “We look forward to having him again next year.”
Kidd, 40, was scoreless in the last 10 playoff games and benched the second halves of Games 5 and 6 against Indiana. Speculation is Kidd could seek a buyout, but Grunwald and Woodson said retirement wasn’t discussed in Monday’s exit meeting.
“He...

Five ways the Eastern Conference semifinals series against the Indiana Pacers went wrong for the Knicks:
1) Chandler bombs
Tyson Chandler didn’t play like a former Defensive Player of the Year or All-Defensive First-Team center against Indiana’s Roy Hibbert. Chandler totaled 36 rebounds and 29 fouls in the six games, while Hibbert averaged 13.3 points and 10.3 boards.
2) Anthony...

Mike Woodson may change the starting lineup tonight based on an injury.
Carmelo Anthony wasn’t at shootaround today due to a stomach virus, but Woodson said, “I’m pretty positive he’s going to play.”
It's backup point guard Pablo Prigioni, who is a game-time decision against the Warriors due to back spasms. If he can’t play, Woodson will bring Jason Kidd off the bench and start someone...

Many Knicks are familiar with Kenyon Martin.
Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Marcus Camby and Jason Kidd all played with him before. Martin’s most success came playing with Kidd and the Nets, where they reached two Finals together. But that was more than a decade ago.
Martin is 35 and hasn’t played since May. So at least he will have something no other Knick has – fresh legs. Mike Woodson...

Jason Kidd won’t play tonight against the Magic because of a sore lower back. James White will replace Kidd in the starting lineup.
This will be the fifth game Kidd will miss this season because of a back issue. He missed four games from Nov. 26-Dec. 2 with lower back spasms.
Kidd aggravated his back in Thursday’s win in Boston, but he played in the Knicks’ back-to-back Saturday and...

Raymond Felton passed his last test and was cleared to play tonight. Jason Kidd’s back felt much better when he woke up and he will play tonight. And Mike Woodson will unveil a new starting lineup against the 76ers.
Felton and Kidd will start in the backcourt with Iman Shumpert at small forward, Carmelo Anthony at power forward and Tyson Chandler center. This starting five could prove effective,...

The Knicks continue to say they’re not counting the Celtics out despite their unimpressive 16-17 record heading into tonight.
It’s not just that the Knicks aren’t trying to wake up the potentially sleeping giant by saying Boston’s time has passed.
They know Doc Rivers’ Celtics have many players who are battled tested and know how to win – something the Knicks have acquired the past two...

Ama’re Stoudemire laughed and said, “Really?” when he was told Mike D’Antoni said Stoudemire threw all of his former coaches under the bus when he said this was the first time in his career he’s being taught defense.
“It was taken out of context,” Stoudemire said. “It wasn’t really to be exaggerated as much as it was - just from the simple fact Coach Woodson is a defensive coach. He’s...

The Knicks had 10 players for practice today and it may be what they have for tomorrow’s game – but not necessarily the same 10.
Carmelo Anthony (hyperextended knee) went through part of practice and Amar’e Stoudemire all of it. But both are questionable to face the Blazers.
Anthony said he’s not getting the usual lift on his jump shot and doesn’t have the power he needs in his leg.
If...
