The Knicks officially announced Friday that Kurt Thomas was waived and Solomon Jones was signed to a contract.

The 6-10 Jones, who played in China, will be in uniform for Friday's game against the Cavaliers. The Knicks initially went after James Singleton, who also played in China this year, but he didn’t get a letter of clearance to play in the NBA.

Jones, 28, has played for the...

Tyson Chandler's neck remains an issue, concern

The Knicks probably won’t have Tyson Chandler tonight when they try to clinch their first Atlantic Division title since 1994.

Chandler is listed as doubtful with a bulging disc in his neck. But Mike Woodson said Chandler is “sore” and “needed rest today.”

“He’s a little beat up,” Woodson said.

Chandler’s injury seems like something that could linger and is definitely a cause for...

Many Knicks are familiar with Kenyon Martin.

Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Marcus Camby and Jason Kidd all played with him before. Martin’s most success came playing with Kidd and the Nets, where they reached two Finals together. But that was more than a decade ago.

Martin is 35 and hasn’t played since May. So at least he will have something no other Knick has – fresh legs. Mike Woodson...

LONDON - The Knicks arrived on London on Tuesday morning and then went off to do whatever they wanted to do.

Mike Woodson, who said he was groggy himself from flying through the night, gave his players the day off.

Woodson will spend some time with his family, but he’ll also watch film with his coaches and get ready for what he called “a camp-like practice tomorrow” at the O2 Arena here.

He’s...

Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics reacts in

The Knicks continue to say they’re not counting the Celtics out despite their unimpressive 16-17 record heading into tonight.

It’s not just that the Knicks aren’t trying to wake up the potentially sleeping giant by saying Boston’s time has passed.

They know Doc Rivers’ Celtics have many players who are battled tested and know how to win – something the Knicks have acquired the past two...

Ama’re Stoudemire laughed and said, “Really?” when he was told Mike D’Antoni said Stoudemire threw all of his former coaches under the bus when he said this was the first time in his career he’s being taught defense.

“It was taken out of context,” Stoudemire said. “It wasn’t really to be exaggerated as much as it was - just from the simple fact Coach Woodson is a defensive coach. He’s...

The Knicks could have a new addition to the starting lineup tonight, but it won’t be Amar’e Stoudemire.

It sounds as if Marcus Camby could replace Kurt Thomas against the Spurs. The Knicks have gotten off to bad starts lately, so Mike Woodson said something was going to have to change.

“Not taking nothing away from Kurt because Kurt bangs and does what’s asked of him too,” Woodson said....

J.R. Smith had never had a game-winning, buzzer-beating shot before this season. Now he has two in three weeks.

Smith capped off a terrific all-around game with a difficult catch-turn-and-shoot deep baseline jumper as time expired to lift the Knicks to a 99-97 win at Phoenix. Smith was also fading to his left when he launched the decisive bucket that helped the undermanned Knicks improve to...

The Knicks will be without their top two scorers tonight when they play the Suns.

Carmelo Anthony won’t play due to a hyper-extended left knee and Raymond Felton is out with sprained ligaments in his right fifth finger, or pinkie. Both injuries occurred in yesterday’s 100-94 loss to at the Lakers.
