Newsday's Al Iannazzone takes you inside the Knicks.
Carmelo Anthony's status for Saturday's game in Chicago probably won’t be known until Saturday.
But it might make sense for him to sit out one more game and let his injured left middle finger heal a little more.
Tyson Chandler suggested that very idea.
“I told him [Wednesday] night, ‘Sit out. It’s not worth it,’’’ Chandler said. “That laceration can easily bust back open and then...Read more »
Raymond Felton was on the floor, his injured thumb in serious pain. But Felton said he wasn’t coming out.
Felton is playing with a bone bruise and contusion in his left hand.
It’s most painful around the thumb and when he got hit, there was definite concern on the Knicks’ bench and on the court. Tyson Chandler immediately rushed to Felton to see how he was.
Felton got up and stayed...Read more »
Jeremy Lin hugged and talked to his old teammates before and after the Rockets destroyed the Knicks 131-103 last night.
Prior to tip off, Lin hugged Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton, then went to the Knicks’ bench and shook hands with Mike Woodson.
The depiction has been that Anthony and Lin weren’t close professionally and personally. But Anthony has tried to disprove...Read more »
HOUSTON -- Mike Woodson addressed the Knicks’ decision not to match Jeremy Lin’s contract offer from the Rockets for the first time Friday, and said it wasn’t a hard call.
“That’s a business decision,” Woodson said after the morning shootaround. “I don’t think it was difficult. We just decided to go in a different direction, based on the guys I thought I liked in terms of Raymond [Felton],...Read more »
Apparently, the NBA general managers don’t think that highly of the Knicks or their offseason moves.
In the annual NBA.com GM Poll, none of the 30 GMS picked the Knicks to win the Eastern Conference title and they were picked to finish behind the Celtics in the Atlantic Division. The Nets and Knicks each had four votes for who is the best team in the Atlantic.
Carmelo Anthony finished...Read more »
And so it begins.
Amar’e Stoudemire’s injury has opened up the possibility to Mike Woodson playing different lineups depending on the match-ups.
This is not the ideal situation because you want to have the same starting five as much as possible.
But take tonight for example.
The Knicks could start Raymond Felton, Ronnie Brewer, Tyson Chandler, Kurt Thomas and Carmelo Anthony...Read more »
The Knicks will use their third different starting lineup in three preseason games, but the biggest thing for them is Amar’e Stoudemire is playing tonight.
Stoudemire missed the first two games with a bruised left knee. Coach Mike Woodson said he would play against the Raptors and then might be given off tomorrow in Albany when the Knicks face Boston.
“If I’m going to play him some big...Read more »
This didn’t feel like a preseason game from the very beginning. The Knicks and the Celtics played an intense game that featured both benches standing down the stretch, screaming things at each other and urging on their teammates.
Kevin Garnett really was the catalyst for that. Garnett was up screaming, 'Here we come,” after back-to-back Celtics’ baskets late in the Knicks’ 98-95 overtime win....Read more »
The Knicks got off to a good start in their preseason debut – literally.
They scored 38 first-quarter points and after squandering, a 17-point lead beat the Wizards 108-101 last night.
Both teams are banged up and with all due respect to the Wizards they could be one of the worst teams in the league, but what you look for in the preseason is how guys play together, what units work, whether...Read more »
