The Nets are headed to London.

Brooklyn will take on the Hawks in a regular-season matchup Jan. 16 at the O2 Arena, the NBA announced Tuesday. The contest is part of the league's Global Games, another initiative to help promote the brand internationally.

Tickets go on sale in October.

“It is always an honor to represent the league overseas,” Deron Williams said in a statement. “Playing in London has a playoff-like intensity, and the energy in the building is great for the players on both teams. It should be very exciting.”

Added GM Billy King: “We are very excited to once again represent the NBA in London. The fans have always been very supportive, and we look forward to once again entertaining them with Brooklyn Nets basketball.”

This will be the third regular-season game abroad for the Nets. In 2011, they played the Raptors on consecutive nights in London in March, knocking off Toronto twice -- including a triple-overtime thriller.

The Nets' tllt is just one of two regular-season matchups the NBA has scheduled for overseas. The Spurs and Timberwolves are set to square off in Mexico on Dec. 4 at Mexico City Arena, meaning the league will stage regular-season games in two countries outside of the United States and Canada in the same season for the first time.

“With the addition of regular-season games in London and Mexico City, we will play one of the most comprehensive international games schedules in our history next season,” NBA Commissioner David Stern said. “Through these games, we will bring the NBA experience to more fans and provide showcases for basketball and the extraordinary talent and athleticism of our players.”
