Jason Kidd jotted down notes in a pad when he played in Dallas under Rick Carlisle for four seasons, winning a NBA title with him in 2011.

So the Nets coach learned a few things from Carlisle and he’ll get the chance Friday night to show how much the pupil has picked up from the teacher.

“Carlisle is one of the best in the league,” Kidd said. “He’s been doing it for a long time. He has the Mavs playing at a high level this year. And also with the likes of Dirk, that helps as a coach.”
