Coral Gables, Fla. -- Just for kicks, after he'd wrapped up his second full contact practice of the preseason Thursday afternoon, Deron Williams threw down a pair dunks.
First, Williams playfully dunked right-handed and then proceeded to do a reverse, testing his right ankle and doing so knowing the assembled media was in clear view. It may sound like nothing, but those pair of dunks represented...Read more »
WASHINGTON -- It's about that time.
Roughly around 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Nets shuffled through the bowels of the Verizon Center, preparing for the first game of what they hope is a long journey that runs deep into June. They're tipping off a new era when they meet the Wizards in their preseason opener, one that has them unsure just how long it's going to take for them to effectively mesh together.

DURHAM, N.C. -- It's back to the Big Apple.
The Nets broke the early portion of training camp Saturday, proclaiming it a success. Five days of practice at Duke University are in the books, and they feel they got their work in before heading back home to prepare for Tuesday's preseason opener against the Wizards in Washington, D.C.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Jason Kidd has been suspended for two games for pleading guilty to driving while impaired, the NBA announced Friday.
The suspension, which was expected since the league has a precedent whe handing out discipline for such incidents, means Kidd won't be on the sidelines when the Nets open their season against the Cavs in Cleveland on Oct. 30. Kidd will also miss the Nets' home...Read more »
DURHAM, N.C. -- They got put in a trick.
Probably thinking they were going to be able to doing everything just short of sipping on some pina coladas, many of the Nets veterans were rather thrilled when coach Jason Kidd dispatched them to the pool during their Wednesday evening practice session.
Boy, were they apparently duped.
“Nah, see when we went down there, they made it seem...Read more »
DURHAM, N.C. -- When he finished retooling the Nets' roster over the summer, Billy King said he thought his team had a roughly two-year window to win a title with Kevin Garnett & Co. on board.
In a sense, that glass has been pried open and King wants the Nets to climb through it immediately.
"Now, this is the window. This season," the Nets general manager said Wednesday...Read more »
DURHAM, N.C. -- Kevin Garnett sat on a chair with a white towel draped over his head, obviously a bit gassed after the Nets' first practice on their second day of training camp.
Let's just say Garnett & Co. are getting a good workout in so far.
"Fun, but tough," the 37-year-old power forward said after practice at Duke University Wednesday. "Obviously we’re new, and...Read more »
DURHAM, N.C. -- Deron Williams spent the better part of the Nets’ first practice watching from the sideline Tuesday, nursing his sore right ankle.
The Nets are being cautious with their star point guard after his injury-plagued campaign in Brooklyn a season ago, bringing him along slowly and limiting his on-court activities. Williams, who injured the ankle working out in Utah last month, said...Read more »
Paul Pierce is making sure the Nets up their ante.
Division title? The veteran small forward basically shrugged off any shred of significance that may come along with winning the Atlantic Division crown, stressing the Nets have a bigger fish to reel in.
“Truthfully, it’s not that important,” Pierce said Monday at the team’s media day at the Barclays Center. “I came here to win a championship....Read more »
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Jason Kidd's main task in his first season as the Nets' coach mirrors that same mentality he had when he was traded to the Nets in 2001.
"I think the identity," Kidd said Tuesday when asked what he wants to change within the Nets. "I think it was just vanilla and I think you guys can see after the trade with [Kevin] Garnett and [Paul] Pierce that it's...Read more »
