EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- They were loose, joking around with each other as they normally do.

Keith Bogans threw a towel in Joe Johnson’s face while he was conducting interviews. Gerald Wallace was getting on Johnson about some of their friendly shooting practice battles, perhaps wanting another crack at him.

For a team that’s hours away from playing in one of the biggest games...

It’s been quite a ride for Kris Humphries these last few months.

After inking that two-year, $24-million pact in the offseason, he began the season as a starter. Then, Avery Johnson benched him in one of his final rotational decisions before Mikhail Prokhorov fired him two days after Christmas.

P.J. Carlesimo gave him another look, only to elect in early March to drop him from the rotation...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Kris Humphries has been on the outs for the better part of the last two weeks, particularly since P.J. Carlesimo dropped him from the rotation last week.

But that may be changing in the near future.

Carlesimo indicated he's going to find a way to slide Humphries, who was benched in the rotation in favor or Mirza Teletovic, into the mix once more.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- If there’s a list of players who are feeling a bit anxious with the trade deadline looming this week, MarShon Brooks’ name might be at the very top.

Although Kris Humphries’ two-year, $24-million contract that expires after next season makes him one of the Nets’ most likely assets to be moved in any deal, Brooks would likely be packaged with Humphries in a trade to...

The NBA has hit Gerald Wallace in the pocket book once again.

Less than a week after slapping the Nets swingman with a $35,000 fine for escalating the altercation between the Celtics' Rajon Rondo and Kris Humphries, the league slapped Wallace with a $5,000 fine for his second flopping violation. The play occurred in the Nets' loss to the Heat in Miami Saturday night.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- They were wearing their black road uniforms, not ripped jeans and crusty old white T-shirts that Steve Lombardi sported during his latter days in the WWF.

But the Nets still played the role of the Brooklyn Brawler in Wednesday night’s 95-83 win over the Celtics at TD Garden, refusing to back down when Rajon Rondo went hard at Kris Humphries at the end of the first half. That...

Gerald Wallace summed the Nets' feelings up rather easily.

"It feels like we haven’t played in two months," the swingman said following Friday's practice at the Barclays Center. "We are anxious to get out on the court and just play against somebody other than ourselves."

Due to the effects of superstorm Sandy, the Nets' opener scheduled for Thursday at the Barclays...

Interior defense

Center Brook Lopez hasn’t shown he can be a consistent force defensively in the paint, and Kris Humphries (pictured) has trouble with smaller, quicker power forwards. Coach Avery Johnson may be forced to start Reggie Evans at times to set a tone early.

BOSTON – If you were planning on flipping on NBATV tonight to get a another peek at the new-look Nets, don't expect to see any of their starters in action against the Celtics.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Players are rarely thrilled to get their scrimmage on. Simulating game action is never as fun as the real thing.

But for the Nets, it's time to gauge their progress after three days of the training camp grind. Joe Johnson, for one, seems excited to hit the court here at the PNY Center Friday evening in the Nets' Black & White scrimmage.
