Stopping Nate Robinson is Nets' Game 5 problem

Reports of a calf injury that will keep Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich out of Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against Brooklyn on Monday night at Barclays Center fall in the “Be careful what you wish for” category for the Nets.

Less Hinrich likely means more Nate Robinson, and the Nets got their fill of him in their demoralizing triple-overtime Game 4 loss Saturday in Chicago.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- They delivered the first blow Friday night, pounding the Bulls in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, but the Nets weren't about to pat themselves on the back Sunday.

In their minds, not only did they simply do what they were supposed to do, given they have homecourt advantage. But they're awaiting Chicago's expected bounce back in Monday's Game...

Nets set for playoff intensity in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS -- When the Nets square off against the Pacers Friday night, P.J. Carlesimo is expecting a tense atmosphere that should rival what they’ll see in a little over a week.

“They still have a chance to catch New York,” the interim coach said prior to the Nets shootaround at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. “So yeah, I think it will be very much like a playoff game.”

With the Nets’ crosstown...

Deron: With Gerald hurt, it's next man up

Nets' Gerald Wallace loses his balance as he

INDIANAPOLIS -- Call it a weird phenomenon.

Seems like as soon as the Nets get one of their key injured players going again, someone else gets hurt. That was the case again Wednesday night in Boston, when Gerald Wallace went down in the second quarter.

The veteran small forward, who has been struggling mightily offensively since the All-Star break, suffered a left heel contusion and...

Deron on Dallas: 'Just another game'

DALLAS -- Deron Williams insists it’s no big deal.

Never mind the fact that he’s playing in a nationally-televised game in his hometown Wednesday night, taking the court at the American Airlines Center for the first time since spurning the Mavericks this offseason when he elected to re-sign with the Nets.

So what that Mark Cuban took a few shots at him in October, trying to explain how...

P.J.: You can always figure out Deron's emotions

Deron Williams makes it rather easy to get a good read on his emotions.

Whether it's by body language, facial expressions, hand gestures or the old fashioned way -- verbally -- the Nets point guard is going to offer some pretty good insight on how he's feeling at that particular moment.

"It's funny," interim coach P.J Carlesimo said Friday on ESPNNY 98.7FM's "Stephen A....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- When Deron Williams emerged from the locker room at the PNY Center after his post-practice shower, he was sporting a white T-shirt with two words on it.

Running sucks.

At least when Williams does that now, it’s not as painful. The platelet rich plasma therapy procedure he received leading into the All-Star break has really taken affect, and Williams admitted...

Deron: I have to take better care of the ball

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Deron Williams' numbers are up in many key statistical areas over the past few weeks.

But there's one number that's still irking him: turnovers. Williams is averaging 3.6 turnovers per game since the All-Star break, up from the 2.8 per game clip average through the season's first 50 games.

No doubt, that's alarming and he's fully aware it can't continue.

"I...

Turns out Deron Williams isn't then only member of the Nets' starting backcourt who's banged up.

Barely two hours after Williams revealed that Thursday's regularly-scheduled round of cortisone shots marked the third time he's had them this season -- the public thinking was he only had one round previously -- Billy King said Joe Johnson won't play versus the Rockets Friday night.

WASHINGTON -- When the Nets blew through the nation's capital a few weeks ago, just days before President Obama's second inauguration, they escaped with a wild double-overtime win, all thanks to Joe Johnson's game-winner.

And the Wizards didn't even have John Wall available that night.

But that won't be the case Friday night when they meet Washington again at the Verizon Center. Wall...
