Apparently, Jeff Van Gundy is indeed on the Nets' radar.

The Nets have reached out to Van Gundy and established preliminary contact with the current ESPN/ABC analyst, according to a tweet from Los Angeles-based NBA Hall of Fame reporter Mark Heisler. The call, Heisler reports, was only introductory but Van Gundy didn't say no.

Van Gundy had initially been considered a potential candidate...

P.J. Carlesimo hasn't been shy about offering his opinion since he was cut loose by the Nets.

That surely didn't change Thursday, when Brooklyn's former interim coach spoke about the expectations placed upon the coaching staff -- particularly Avery Johnson -- this season.

Carlesimo, now working for ESPN as an analyst through the playoffs, once again took umbrage with the the Nets parting...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Along with scores of team executives from each one of the NBA’s 30 franchises, the Nets’ brass was out in full force at the PNY Center Wednesday, watching on as a portion of the 44 invited draft hopefuls showcased their talents at the team’s practice facility.

Flanked by some of his trusty personnel, which included his assistant GM Bobby Marks -- the guy who came up...

Billy King is ready to chat it up with Phil Jackson and see if the man with 11 rings wants to coach the Nets.

The Nets general manager admitted the search is now officially underway for P.J. Carlesimo’s successor and it’s going to start by gauging Jackson’s interest. King suggested he’s still awaiting Jackson’s response to the inquiry, which was reported by NBA.com Monday.

“As I’ve said,...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- They were loose, joking around with each other as they normally do.

Keith Bogans threw a towel in Joe Johnson’s face while he was conducting interviews. Gerald Wallace was getting on Johnson about some of their friendly shooting practice battles, perhaps wanting another crack at him.

For a team that’s hours away from playing in one of the biggest games...

Nets hope to turn pressure around on Bulls

CHICAGO -- They’re back at the scene of that epic collapse, ready to truly put brutal triple-overtime loss here five days ago on the backburner.

But if the Nets are going to keep their season from coming to an abrupt end, they’ll have to find a way to get a victory at the United Center -- something they’ve failed to do four previous times this season -- when they meet the Bulls in Game 6 of...

Stopping Nate Robinson is Nets' Game 5 problem

Reports of a calf injury that will keep Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich out of Game 5 of their first-round playoff series against Brooklyn on Monday night at Barclays Center fall in the “Be careful what you wish for” category for the Nets.

Less Hinrich likely means more Nate Robinson, and the Nets got their fill of him in their demoralizing triple-overtime Game 4 loss Saturday in Chicago.

Robinson...

As the Nets look forward to Monday's Game 5 against the Bulls at the Barclays Center, the scenario is perfectly clear.

"You win or you go home," interim coach P.J. Carlesimo said Sunday afternoon on a conference call, a day after the Nets' numbing 142-134 triple overtime loss to the Bulls at the United Center. "It's as simple as that ... and I think we’ll respond to that, and...

CHICAGO -- Wearing an all-gray sweatsuit while the rest of his teammates were sporting shorts and jerseys, Joe Johnson sat on the scorer’s table inside a quiet United Center fielding queries about his foot.

Although he said the plantar fasciitis that he’s developed in his right foot feels better, Johnson was non-committal regarding his status for Game 3 against the Bulls on Thursday night....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Looks like the Bulls won’t be the only team in this series who have a star player dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Joe Johnson has apparently developed the same thing in his left foot that’s hobbled Joakim Noah in the first two games of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, and the Nets are listing their starting shooting guard as a game-time decision for Thursday’s...
