WASHINGTON — Jason Collins is indeed hanging around for a little longer.

The Nets announced Saturday that they’ve signed the veteran big man for the rest of the season, a move that was expected once they initially inked him to the first of two 10-day contracts on Feb. 23.

Collins, who became the first openly gay athlete to play in one of this country’s top four professional sports leagues,...

Looks like the Nets will have a representative at next month's All-Star Game after all.

Joe Johnson was named as one of the Eastern Conference reserves Thursday night, earning an All-Star nod for the seventh time in his career. Johnson has been the Nets’ steady rock, consistently bailing them out with nine games of 20 or more points and registering 30 or more points three times.

Johnson,...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Andray Blatche is indeed considering playing for the Philippines National Team at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain this summer.

At least that’s what he says.

This, even though he was born in Syracuse. And has never ever set foot in the Philippines.

Still, he basically confirmed he's agreed to play for the Philippines, possibly tag-teaming with former...

DURHAM, N.C. -- They got put in a trick.

Probably thinking they were going to be able to doing everything just short of sipping on some pina coladas, many of the Nets veterans were rather thrilled when coach Jason Kidd dispatched them to the pool during their Wednesday evening practice session.

Boy, were they apparently duped.

“Nah, see when we went down there, they made it seem...

Jason Kidd: No more iso ball for Nets

Jason Kidd talks with the media following practice

ORLANDO, Fla. -- It happened often.

Whether it was Deron Williams trying to create off the dribble all by his lonesome or the Nets simply throwing the ball to Joe Johnson or Brook Lopez and watching them operate while everyone stood around, there wasn't a whole lot of movement within the Nets' offense during their inaugural season in Brooklyn.

Jason Kidd wants that to change and he plans...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- They were loose, joking around with each other as they normally do.

Keith Bogans threw a towel in Joe Johnson’s face while he was conducting interviews. Gerald Wallace was getting on Johnson about some of their friendly shooting practice battles, perhaps wanting another crack at him.

For a team that’s hours away from playing in one of the biggest games...

CHICAGO -- After two straight wins over the Bulls, the Nets are poised to become the ninth team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win a best-of-seven series. And thanks to their fourth-place regular-season finish in the Eastern Conference, Game 7 against the fifth-place Bulls will be played Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“It’s been back and forth, but it comes...

CHICAGO -- Wearing an all-gray sweatsuit while the rest of his teammates were sporting shorts and jerseys, Joe Johnson sat on the scorer’s table inside a quiet United Center fielding queries about his foot.

Although he said the plantar fasciitis that he’s developed in his right foot feels better, Johnson was non-committal regarding his status for Game 3 against the Bulls on Thursday night....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Looks like the Bulls won’t be the only team in this series who have a star player dealing with plantar fasciitis.

Joe Johnson has apparently developed the same thing in his left foot that’s hobbled Joakim Noah in the first two games of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, and the Nets are listing their starting shooting guard as a game-time decision for Thursday’s...

Deron: With Gerald hurt, it's next man up

Nets' Gerald Wallace loses his balance as he

(Credit: AP)

INDIANAPOLIS -- Call it a weird phenomenon.

Seems like as soon as the Nets get one of their key injured players going again, someone else gets hurt. That was the case again Wednesday night in Boston, when Gerald Wallace went down in the second quarter.

The veteran small forward, who has been struggling mightily offensively since the All-Star break, suffered a left heel contusion and...
