N. Babylon's Green starts as Spurs top Nets
Green scored 10 points in 20:42 as the Spurs cruised to a 103-89 victory over the Nets at Prudential Center in Newark.
It was the second career start for the 6-6 guard, who also was in the starting lineup in the Spurs' 110-90 win over the 76ers on Wednesday night.
"It's been a great experience and it's a great opportunity," Green said of starting. "I've played in New Jersey and New York before, but usually I'm on the sidelines or in a suit."
Green said he's always had strong family support in games played in the metropolitan area. It was no different Saturday night for Green, who said there would be 20 to 30 family members in attendance. "They'll actually get to see me play," he said.
Green has found a niche for himself on the Spurs' roster. He was averaging career highs in minutes (22:06) and points (7.3) before Saturday night's game, and the Spurs (19-9) are in first in the Southwest Division.
Getting playing time for a winning franchise and doing it alongside the likes of Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili has made things even more special for Green. "We're winning games,'' he said. "I can't ask for more."
