If ever tasked with finding a live showcase of edgy electronic music, one might feel the need to leave LI’s mostly mainstream nightlife scene and look to late-night venues in such famously alternative dance-friendly localities as Brooklyn and lower Manhattan -- but on Saturday anybody seeking a day filled with deep beats can skip the trip to NYC and instead make a break for Seaford, where an international lineup of producers and DJs will be performing throughout the day.

The event is called the "Drum and Bass BBQ," and it’s taking place in Cedar Creek Park on July 12 from noon until sunset.

For those unfamiliar with drum and bass (or “DnB”), it’s a sound that employs whip-quick electronic percussion fixed over wavy, low bass grooves -- resulting in a fast-paced yet funky, sometimes soulful concoction --– and although there aren't currently many regular options to see and hear it live on Long Island, frequent DnB presentations can be found elsewhere around the nation and overseas as well.

However, the LI-fixed Drum and Bass BBQ has managed to serve as a rare-yet-successful DnB get-together for local enthusiasts since first launching in 2004 -- and for the 2014 edition, the bill will reflect its reliability as the slated talent hails from both other states and other countries.

Running from noon until sunset, artists scheduled to appear include UK-natives singer Collette Warren and producer/ DJ Ben Soundscape, as are Nashville-based DJ Squake and Floridian producer/DJ Random Movement. As for local talent, New Yorkers DJ Strife and Dave Shichman are to spin, along with Tanktop and NYC transplant (but Melbourne-born) Georgia Dust. There’s no cover to attend, but non-Nassau County residents may be subject to a $10 parking fee (per car). All are welcome to bring food and beverages; for more information send an email to DrivenAM@gmail.com.
