Former two-time heavyweight champion John "Quietman" Ruiz signed a promotional deal with Golden Boy Promotions, it was announced today.

"I'm excited to become a member of the Golden Boy Promotions family and I know that I have a great future," Ruiz said. "I'm going to continue to make history and break records one fight at a time, starting with David Haye this spring. I know Goldn Boy will help get me back to the top of the heavyweight division and secure my place in the boxing history books."

Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KOs) became the first Hispanic fighter to capture a heavyweight title when he topped Evander Holyfield for the WBA title in March, 2001.

Ruiz scored a seventh-round knockout of Adnan Serin last October.
