CAA moves men's lacrosse championship dates

The Colonial Athletic Association has changed the schedule for the 2013 men's lacrosse championship. The semifinal will now be Wednesday, May 1 and the title game will be Friday, May 3.

With the No. 1 seed already locked up, Penn State will host the conference tournament in University Park, Pa.

The sophomore attack (pictured) led Hofstra in assists last season with 16. She scored 15 goals and had 11 draw controls.

The senior midfield scored 22 goals, had 40 draw controls, 13 ground balls.

Hofstra basketball coach Mo Cassara confirmed that Jamal Coombs-McDaniel is done for the season with a knee injury.

Coombs-McDaniel, a 6-foot-7 junior forward, sat out last season after transferring from the University of Connecticut. Coombs-McDaniel was part of UConn's NCAA championship team in 2010-11. He averaged 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in two seasons.

The Colonial Athletic Association, home to Hofstra’s athletic program, announced a three-year agreement to hold its men’s basketball tournament at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore starting in 2014. The tournament has been held at Richmond Coliseum since 1990. 1st Mariner Arena seats 11,800. It was the site for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament in 1995.

Hofstra wrestler Russell Benner has been suspended from the team for an insensitive comment he made on Twitter, wrestling coach Rob Anspach announced Thursday, and will be required by the school to perform community service.
