Adrien Broner has done a lot during his young career. His latest triumph, a split-decision win over Paulie Malignaggi last June despite jumping up two weight classes, might be his biggest accomplishment to date.

Broner (27-0, 22 KOs) took home the WBA welterweight title after that bout. Now he is facing arguably the hardest hitter of his career in Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KOs) on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Alamodome in San Antonio live on SHOWTIME.

Maidana’s last four wins have come by knockout or TKO. Broner, in his typical confident tone, doesn’t seem too concerned with Maidana’s power.

“One more thing that people don't understand is the guys he knocked out he was able to hit,” said Broner. “He has to hit me first, and he's never been hit by me. We'll all see what happens December 14th.”

Does that mean Broner will change his tactics? He took a few more chances when he fought Malignaggi, standing toe-to-toe with a little more than usual. But Malignaggi, not known for his power, couldn't hurt Broner.

This fight, Broner's second at 147 pounds, is likely to be different.

Broner was coy when asked about his strategy.

Said Broner: “I don't fight anybody the same. Maidana has to show me-he has to make me respect his power and his boxing skills. You never know. When I make my adjustments inside the ring December 14th, then I'll do what I have to do to get my victory, but until then, we just staying sharp.”

As for Maidana, he admitted his shortcomings, doesn’t expect them to cause him any problems against Broner.

“In the past, I've had a few problems with boxers, slick boxers, but I don't think Broner is such a slick boxer,” said Maidana. “He's talented, but I'm preparing well. I had great sparing partners this time. I adjusted myself and be sure that Adrien is going to respect me in the ring. I will make sure that he respects me in the ring.”
