Saturday night represents the opportunity of a lifetime for Delvin Rodriguez.

Rodriguez will get a chance to take a major step in his career when he takes on Miguel Cotto (37-4) in a 12-round junior middleweight bout at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fl. live on HBO.

"I'm just enjoying every second of this because this is an opportunity that I earned. I got to this opportunity the hard way,” said Rodriguez. “After so many years of hard work, one bad decision after the other, tough fights, I'm just thankful to God that I'm here.”

Rodriguez (28-6-1) was ready to change careers a few years ago. But giving up after coming so far was just not an option.

“There was a time when I said forget about boxing, forget this, this isn't for me anymore, but I said I'm not going to throw so many years of my life away after so much hard work,” Rodriguez said. “So I'm glad I stuck with it and thanks to God I'm here."

Rodriguez, known for his two fights against Pawel Wolak, –One was a draw and the other was a unanimous-decision win for Rodriguez– believes it is time for him to take his rightful place among the elites in the sport. But Cotto, a well-tested veteran, should present a stiff challenge.

"This is my time, my turn to win. I have enjoyed every second of this promotion,” added Rodriguez. “Every fighter has a defining moment in his career. For me, my career takes a big turn for greatness on Saturday night, I will beat Cotto."

Saturday also represents a chance for Star Boxing to make another dent nationally in the sport. Star Boxing boss Joe DeGuardia, who has undefeated junior welterweight Chris Algieri and recently signed Joshua Clottey in his stable, is counting on Rodriguez to put forth a big time performance.

"Throughout his entire career Delvin has been a warrior, always battling in the ring," said DeGuardia. "Along with the sensational battles with Wolak that everyone knows about, he's also fought numerous times overseas and on the road where he's been the victim of hometown scoring in some very close battles.

"Come Saturday night the fans in this beautiful city of Orlando and those watching on HBO are going to see a tremendous fight. Delvin is in terrific shape and ready for the biggest fight of his career."
