Maddalone headlines Paramount boxing card
Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing is back at the Paramount in Huntington this Saturday as local heavyweight Vinny Maddalone headlines the card.
Maddalone has fought the likes of Evander Holyfield, Tyson Fury and Tomazs Adamek throughout his career. On Saturday he meets unbeaten Richard Carmarck, who is 12-0 with 10 knockouts.
“This is a terrific opportunity for me, while I haven’t fought at The Paramount yet, the Star Boxing events there are always sold out and it’s a great atmosphere to fight in” said Maddalone. “It’s only 25 minutes from my house and I’m expecting a great deal of support.”
Also, according to a press release sent out by Star Boxing, "after spending almost three years in jail for a crime he didn't commit, undefeated light heavyweight prospect Yathomas Riley (8-0, 6 KOs) will return to the ring Buffalo, New York's Lionell Thompson."
"I'm very excited to get back in the ring on May 11" said Riley, in the release. "This has obviously been a very trying time for me dealing with the false accusations and not fighting for the last three years.
The release also stated that Riley fought a "prolonged legal battle that saw him holed up in a Florida jail after being wrongly accused of attempted murder in the South Florida town of Homestead."
