Sergio Martinez is still looking for that big fight. Although he may not get the notoriety he’s looking for in his next bout, he’ll at least face a tough opponent.

Regarded by most as the No.1 middleweight in the world, Martinez (48-2-2, 27KO's) will headline a St. Patrick’s Day card on Saturday, March 17 at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. He’ll take on top Irish middleweight contender Matthew Macklin (28-3, 19 KOs).

The card will broadcast live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing beginning at 10 p.m.

After thanking promoter Lou DiBella and HBO, Martinez stayed on his message denouncing domestic violence at the press conference.

“I am dedicating this fight to my family and to everyone who dedicate there time to fight against domestic violence,” said Martinez. “Thank you for coming and thank you for your time. I look forward to seeing you at my fight on March 17.

Macklin talked about his chance to make a name for himself.

“As I have done throughout my entire career I will go up a notch for this fight,” said Macklin. “Sergio is going to bring the best out of me and I am very confident in my mind that I will be the new middleweight champion come March 17th.”

Macklin won’t be the only Irish star on the card. Andy Lee (27-1, 19 KOs) and Long Beach’s Seanie Monaghan (10-0, 7 KOs) are also expected to be on the card.
