Isn’t it funny how one win can rejuvenate a boxer?

Paulie Malignaggi’s unanimous-decision win over Zab Judah on Saturday at Barclays Center apparently lit a fire under the “Magic Man”.

"This is an emotional win for me. It definitely allows me to continue boxing. If I had lost, I don't know that I would have wanted to continue,” Malignaggi said. “But this big win puts me in the right spot to fight in this division for lots of money...lots.”

Malignaggi (33-5), a former two-division champion, didn’t mince words about the possibilities for his next fight. He wants WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner, who will take on Marcos Maidana at the Alamodome next Saturday on Showtime.

Broner, who scored a split-decision win over Malignaggi, hasn’t said whether he’ll grant the rematch. But does he want to risk another fight against Malignaggi?

With several other viable welterweights available, Broner might not want to risk a loss to Malignaggi. Considering the scoring of their June bout (Broner prevailed, 115-113; 113-115; 117-111), Broner may not be interested in a rematch.

Malignaggi, meanwhile, is primed and ready to keep on boxing.

“This win is satisfying for sure…It puts me in position for big fights,” Malignaggi said. “With a win like this, it’s kind of like full steam ahead.”

Possible fights for Malignaggi include Shawn Porter, who beat Devon Alexander for the IBF welterweight championship at Barclays Center on Saturday, Juan Manuel Marquez and possibly Danny Garcia.

Marquez might earn Malignaggi the biggest payday. Porter, although talented, is still a relatively unknown commodity. Danny Garcia is quickly moving up the list, but he’s still fighting as a junior welterweight. A fight against Malignaggi for a big payday could prompt him to jump divisions.
