A win vs. Trout puts Alvarez in driver's seat

So just how big is this weekend for Canelo Alvarez? A convincing win against Austin Trout at the Alamodome in San Antonio on Saturday night would put him in the driver’s seat for his next fight.

No, it doesn’t mean Alvarez, the WBC 154-pound champion, is guaranteed a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the fall, but it will give him some leverage if Mayweather wants the fight.

Since both...

The Neutral Corner presents its fight wish list for 2013.

Floyd Mayweather (40-0) vs. Anyone: We want to see Mayweather fight anyone at this point. We know the “Money” man is very particular about who he fights and when, but its time he starts to justify why fans need to wait forever between fights. Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez and Tim Bradley are just a few of the several fighters we’d...

One of the great things about shows like, "All Access,"  is that you get a chance to see the softer side of the fighters. In this one, we saw a lot of the children. It's always refreshing. Showtime has added D.B. Sweeney as a narrator and writers Jody Heaps and Jason Bowers.

Miguel Cotto challenges Austin Trout for the WBA junior middleweight title on December 1 at Madison...

Here are some predictions for Saturday's Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Miguel Cotto fight:

Holt McCallany, actor: I love Miguel Cotto. Heart of a lion. Pressure fighter. And the nicest guy in the sport. I just don't see how he can get it done this time. Floyd's speed, defensive ability, angles, and on and on. I predict a tough night for a great fighter named Miguel Cotto. Mayweather by decision.

A nice moment for Floyd Mayweather Jr. - donating $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity during a run - turns bad when he roots on an Asian runner by calling out, "Pacquiao, let's go Pacquiao."

Floyd sent out three tweets complaining about this week's episode, tweeting that HBO isn't giving the viewers a good show. He wasn't specific in his complaints. Best spoken line,...

The subtext was a show about two sets of best friends. Floyd Mayweather Jr. and 50 Cent and Miguel Cotto and Bryan Perez. Very different, but very cool.

Best spoken line, Floyd Mayweather Jr.: "I have to take my father with me, because he's going to go all out. His mentality is like mine."

Best spoken line, Roger Mayweather: "It doesn't matter who he got. That guy can't...
