Star Boxing CEO Joe DeGuardia is back in the saddle after surviving a horrific accident early Sunday morning on July 29. DeGuardia’s Mercedes Benz was hit head on by a car driving the wrong way on the LIE.

The driver of the other car was killed on impact. DeGuardia, who was on the way home after overseeing his sold-out boxing show “Rockin Fights 4” at the Paramount in Huntington, suffered serious injuries, but has since recovered.

"I'm still a little banged up and bruised but it feels terrific to be back at the office. Naturally, I'm on a bit of a modified schedule, but we will be working hard to pick up where we left off,” said DeGaurdia. “We've had a very busy year and the rest of 2012 looks like more of the same. We'll have plenty to announce in the coming days."

DeGuardia, has built quite of stable of fighters, including Huntington’s Chris Algieri. Other locals under the Star Boxing banner include Eastern Long Island’s Cletus Seldin and rookie fighter Alan Gotay. All three were on the Star Boxing card at the Paramount. Star Boxing recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

"Over the last month the support I've received from those in the boxing community has been overwhelming,” said DeGuardia. “The sport of boxing is in great shape with terrific fights and new broadcast partners coming aboard over the last few months. I can't wait to get back to work."
