Hofstra will name former Boston College assistant Mo Cassara as its new basketball coach Wednesday, Newsday has learned. Cassara was part of the staff hired by Tim Welsh, who resigned following charges of driving while intoxicated.

Cassara was in his fourth season working for Al Skinner at Boston College. Skinner was fired and Cassara was tabbed by Welsh. He had also assisted at Washington & Lee, The Citadel and Dayton. He was the head coach at Clark University (Division II) from 2004-2006.
