Northport's Amanda Bender scores 36 for St. Joseph's

Amanda Bender had a career-high 36 points as St. Joseph's breezed past visiting CCNY, 70-49, Saturday in a non-conference women's basketball game.

The Northport High School graduate shot 14-for-23 from the field and added six rebounds and three steals.

St. Joseph's took control in the second half as Bender scored 16 points during a 31-14 run that gave the Golden Eagles a 62-42 lead with 4:46 left.

Ashley Larrea added eight steals and six rebounds and Danielle Hamlin chipped in 14 points and three steals for St. Joseph's (2-1). Missouri-Kansas City 70, LIU Brooklyn 66:Senior guard Krystal Wells had a career-high 26 points for LIU Brooklyn in the consolation game of the LIU Brooklyn Turkey Classic. Sophomore Honor Duvall added a career-high 12 points and Ebony Davis had 13 rebounds for LIU (1-3). Kim Nezianya led Missouri-Kansas City (3-4) with 17 points. MEN'S BASKETBALL St. Joseph's 81, CCNY 73: H>Evan Mohammed had a career-high 23 points and four steals and Keith Anderson added 19 points and 12 rebounds for St. Joseph's (1-2) in a non-conference game. Sean McCarthy added 16 points and five rebounds for St. Joseph's. Anthony Lewis had 20 points and nine rebounds and Brandon Reeves added 15 points and 15 rebounds for CCNY (3-1).

Molloy 68, Nyack 48:Jimmy Nolan scored 14 points, Tyler Hammett had 11 points and 13 rebounds and John Petrucelli added 12 points and four assists for Molloy (3-2) in a non-conference game. Chris Hampton had 16 points and four assists for Nyack (1-4).

Dayton 66, Manhattan 58:George Beamon had 19 points and four rebounds and Emmy Andujar chipped in 12 points and six rebounds for Manhattan (1-3) in a non-conference loss. Kevin Dillard led Dayton (4-1) with 20 points and shot 7-for-11 from the floor. St. Francis (N.Y.) 76, Brown 72:Ben Mockford scored eight of his 14 points in overtime for visiting St. Francis (2-2) in a non-conference game. Jalen Cannon had 20 points on 10-for-12 shooting and Kevin Douglas had 17 points for St. Francis. Sean McGonagill had 23 points for Brown (2-3).
