St. John’s sits atop the first Metro Poll of the season. The Red Storm has won four straight and play San Francisco. Stony Brook is No. 2 after winning three of its last four. The Seawolves earned a lot of respect after a strong showing in a 73-62 loss at Connecticut. Seton Hall and Rutgers are third and fourth, while Iona is fifth.

As is the case every season, this is a fluid list that wil change from week to week. Teams like LIU and Princeton, who have been strong in recent seasons, are off to slow starts and could certainly be in this poll.

1. St. John’s (6-2)
2. Stony Brook (6-2)
3. Seton Hall (5-2)
4. Rutgers (4-2)
5. Iona (3-2)
6. Monmouth (4-3)
7. Manhattan (2-4)
8. Rider (5-4)
9. Fairfield (4-4)
10. St. Francis, NY (2-3)
