No. 20 Duke (10-2) vs. No. 1 Florida State (12-0), 8:00: This certainly isn’t the matchup most people expected this season. But Duke fans will take it. The Blue Devils surged into the ACC title game thanks to an eight-game winning streak that included victories over Virginia Tech, Miami and rival North Carolina. How did Duke do it? The college football season clearly has saved its best for the last regular season weekend off the season. Alabama plays at Auburn, Florida hosts Florida State, Texas A&M visits Missouri and Ohio State is at Michigan. Each of those games, and a few others not mentioned, could have some sort of effect on the BCS national championship and the Heisman Trophy race.

It's rare to see the Heisman Trophy race in such flux. For a while, it was all about Johnny Manziel, then it was about Marcus Mariota, then about Jameis Winston. At this point, it's anybody's race. If integrity and character weren't factors in the voting, Winston would probably win in a walk. But his legal problems opened the door for two to three other players. A.J. It’s another weekend and another group of games with national title implications. Florida State-Clemson is the key game as the winner gets a leg up in the BCS race. Missouri got a huge boost with a 15-point win over Georgia, but lost its quarterback, while UCLA-Stanford might be the most important PAC-12 game this season.

We’re at the halfway point of the season and as usual it’s another weekend that has serious national title implications. Georgia, Florida, LSU, Oregon and Oklahoma are all in contention for conference/national titles. They also all have tough games. The top 5 could be drastically different next week.

There are several games this weekend that have serious national title implications. Florida State is looking to stay undefeated and in the top 10, while two undefeated PAC-12 teams in Washington and Stanford look to keep its names in national headlines. Ohio State will get its toughest test (vs. Northwestern) to date and Notre Dame looks to keep its BCS hopes alive against Arizona State.

USC fired Lane Kiffin and UConn axed Paul Pasqualoni. Both firings were expected, especially Kiffin’s. Pasqualoni’s firing was understandable, but it’s not easy winning at UConn.
Is there anyone next on the chopping block? Not at the moment, as many of the top programs have coaches who are in the early stages of their contracts.
